Locked Out!

This morning I locked myself out of work!

To my credit, it’s only the second time it’s ever happened in the past ten years, so that’s not a bad record. But you can’t help feeling a little silly when you realise that you’ve left your home – and work – keys safely and secured locked inside work on your desk.

Thankfully my partner was at home last night to let me in!

Because I will also tend to work earlier hours at the specific location I work at than some of my other colleagues, it means a little bit of a wait this morning in our beautiful Garden Reception, which was partially landscaped by the amazing creative flair of Diane Dickinson

I could send a message to a keyholder and ask them if they wouldn’t mind getting here a little earlier than usual, but to be honest, it’s my mistake and with modern technology I can do a lot with a Chromebook, a Mobile and a Spotify Premium Account these days.

Plus, it gives me the chance to actually relax for once, to sit and think and take a moment with the sounds of nature this morning around me – something I’m very guilty of ignoring….all whilst a local neighbourhood cat silently watches me and wonders why I’ve possibly stolen his usual seat….

Watching the planes go by, thinking about where they’re going, or coming from – and the journies of the people on them. Greeting our neighbours as they arrive for work at the building opposite and trying to make it sound like I’ve intentionally chosen to begin my morning in the garden.

Taking an unexpected moment like this is just what I needed this morning, and it allows me to think on about the tasks ahead, or simply just to forget about that and take some deep breaths and refocus.

To have, as #GunsNRoses might say, a little ‘Patience’ (cue whistling…)

What do you think? Fancy sharing some of your own embarrassing stories with me this Tuesday to help relieve the awkwardness? Consider it a chance for your own little reset….and breathe….
